NEW DOCUMENTARY SERIES MAKES THE CASE FOR CUSTER COUNTY, ONE MISTAKE AT A TIME

"Borah Vista" premieres on YouTube with three episodes; a free 17-page Lost River Range trip guide accompanies the season

MACKAY, Idaho — August 8, 2026 — Borah Vista, a ten-episode documentary series filmed in and around Custer County, Idaho, premieres today on YouTube. The first three episodes are live now, with a new episode releasing every Saturday at 9 a.m. Mountain time through the season finale on September 26.

The series follows Jason Leue, who bought seven acres in the Lost River Valley outside Mackay — no water, no power, and no way to drive a truck onto the property — and wants to put a log cabin on it. Not a trailer, not a kit shed: a cabin made of trees, standing on the spot he's standing on.

"What I want out here is a log cabin — not a trailer, not a shed I bought at a store," Leue says in the opening episode. "The largest thing I have ever built is a deck."

Episodes run five to seven minutes and follow the actual order of events — a fence that has to come down, a neighbor's water rights that have to be respected, a forestry permit question, a shipping container delivered to what turns out to be the wrong spot. The series makes Leue himself the punchline, and every episode ends on the next unanswered question. The season's stated theme: "Do what you know — and the rest will be revealed."

Underneath the story, the series is openly a destination piece for Custer County. Real towns, roads and ranges are named on screen, local businesses appear warmly by name, and the landscape — filmed through the summer by drone and cinema camera — is the point as much as the cabin is.
